World Tang Soo Do Association

Tang Soo Do is a 2,000 year old traditional martial art that traces its roots to ancient Korea. The art has been passed down from instructor to student for many generations with each generation striving to continuously improve and spread the art of Tang Soo Do. Our association was founded by Grandmaster Jae Chul Shin who first came to the United States in 1968 as a representative of the Korean Soo Bahk Do Association.

Grandmaster Shin formed the US Tang Soo Do Association in Burlington, NJ and the organization expanded across the US as well as foreign countries. After many years of Tang Soo Do's promotion within the US, the organization was reorganized to fit the growing demands of the international community of Tang Soo Do masters, instructors, and students. On November 13-14, 1982, a Charter Convention for the World Tang Soo Do Association was held in Philadelphia, PA. At the Charter Convention Master Jae C. Shin was recognized as Grandmaster of the World Tang Soo Do Association.
