FAQS FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

ARE THERE ANY CONTRACTS?

No. River Forge does not believe in contracts for students to train. Instead, the teaching and lessons learned are the contracts. If you find our teaching and lessons valuable, you will keep coming to classes. This also allows flexibility for students should they need to take time away from training due to life events.

ARE THE INSTRUCTORS CERTIFIED?

Yes. All class instructors are over the age of 18,are certified black belts with the World Tang Soo Do Association, and have been training for a minimum of 4 years in Tang Soo Do. All class instructors must go through a minimum of 1 year of instruction on how to teach classes at River Forge Martial Arts. In addition, class instructors are taught CPR and first aid in the unlikely event of an emergency. All instructors have state and federal clearances as well.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA FEES?

No. There are no start up fees to begin training or to become a member of the World Tang Soo Do Association. In addition, students will not pay any extra fees for testing at River Forge Martial Arts.

DO I OR MY CHILD NEED EQUIPMENT TO START?

No equipment is required to start training. When the student decides that they are fully committed to training in Tang Soo Do, then they may purchase a uniform. The studio has shared sparring gear that students may use and if used the students are expected to clean the gear they used during class after each use so that the next student has clean gear to put on. The instructor will show new students how to properly clean the gear.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A INTRODUCTORY COURSE?

All new students have a free 2 week trial period of classes!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING PART OF THE WORLD TANG SOO DO ASSOCIATION?

River Forge Martial Arts is part of the World Tang Soo Do Association in what is known as Region 22. Region 22 is made up of Western PA and Ohio which encompasses 20+ different Tang Soo Do schools. One of the most important benefits of being a member of the WTSDA is that no matter where a student may be traveling, it is likely that there is a WTSDA sanctioned studio near by. This means that as students progress through school and onto college, technical school, or the military, there is a good chance that there is a WTSDA school near by so that the student may continue their training. Also, as a WTSDA member, students are invited to both regional and world tournaments and training clinics where WTSDA Masters from all around the country and world come to share their knowledge and passion for Tang Soo Do. Annual training opportunities are also extended to those students who are more advanced in rank to train with their peers at training clinics as well. These events are a great way to get to know other WTSDA practitioners and make life long friends.
